Frequently Asked Questions
What is Bordeaux Label?
- Who are we?
Bordeaux Label is a Travel Agency offering breaks and discovery tours in the South West of France and in particular in the Bordeaux wine-producing area.
You can find out more by visiting our "Who we are" page.
- Why trust Bordeaux Label?
For both financial and organisational reasons.
Financially, we provide our clients with total security for the money they deposit with us. We have been state-licensed (nº 033.000.003) since the year 2000 and are members of APS, a body that provides its members with bonds to support the guarantees required by the Code du Tourisme and its provisions.
Full details can be found at APS (in French only).

Finding out about Bordeaux Label's programmes
- How can I obtain complete details of your programmes?
Simply send us an email, or call us on 05 57 98 22 77, asking for details of the programme or programmes concerned. We will immediately send you comprehensive day-by-day details.
- Tell me a bit about the Bordeaux wine-producing region.
The 120,000 hectares of the Bordeaux wine-producing region, the largest in the world in terms of area, is made up of 57 appellations in a circle around the city of Bordeaux.
In terms of area, the largest (and the best known) are Médoc to the north, Saint Emilion to the east, Graves and Sauternes to the south-west and Entre Deux Mers to the south-east.
Here you may find a map of the wine-producing region featuring all the principal appellations which will show you the main ports of call on your tour with us.
- What is the best time of year to come to the South-West of France?
Almost any time of year is a good time: the yearly average temperature in the South-West is higher than that on the Côte d'Azur!
However, we would recommend in particular Spring, from April to June, and Autumn, from September to the end of November, which are the nicest times.
- What degree of expertise in wines do I need for your wine-study courses?
You don't need to know about wines to enjoy one of our breaks or wine-study courses, it's enough to enjoy wine and want to find out more.
And as for things practical...
- How do I enrol?
Send us an email, or call us, telling us the programme you're interested in and your preferred dates. We will check on the feasibility of your break or tour and send you a detailed quotation.
- How do I pay, and when?
To confirm, you need to pay a deposit of 30% of the total sum due. You can do this either by secure payment on our site, or by means of a cheque payable to Bordeaux Label or by bank transfer (bank details available on request).
The balance due must reach us by two weeks before the start of the break or tour at the latest. On receipt of the balance we will send you your travel documents.
- When will I know the names of the properties to be visited on my break or tour?
For practical reasons we only reserve the properties once the break or tour is confirmed. At that point we will supply you with the names and details.
However, and in order to offer you a guarantee of the quality of the breaks and tours we offer, we work essentially with members of the Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux.
- Tell me more about my travel documents.
They contain day-by-day details and times of the services we will provide as well as useful contacts and information on your various visits: tours of properties, guided tours of towns or attractions, restaurants etc.
They also include a green guide and a detailed IGN road map.
Giving a break or a tour as a present
- How can I offer one of your breaks or tours as a gift?
We can send you by post or email a personalised travel schedule but without dates or prices. You can give this to the person concerned. A birthday, a marriage, a retirement would all make an ideal reason for giving someone the present of a Bordeaux Label break, tour or course.
- Do you do gift vouchers?
Yes, we can send you gift vouchers either for a sum of your own choosing (100, 200, 300 euros) or valid for a particular break, tour or course.
Our gift vouchers are normally valid for one year, but can be extended by agreement with ourselves, subject of course to any future price rises.
